Ornamental Crops
Ornamental crops management extension services are provided to commercial growers via county extension offices, as well as University of Florida Research and Education Centers. Services to commercial growers include diagnosing problems, determining cropping systems and/or crops best suited to individual enterprises, fertilizers and crop protection techniques needed to produce profitable crops, marketing, and the use of business analysis programs. Homeowners and commercial urban horticulture professionals such as commercial landscape and interiorscape personnel, landscape architects & designers, arborists, turfgrass managers and public agencies, can also find help through county extension offices.
Tropical Fruit Crops
The Tropical Fruit Crops Management in Florida Extension Program provides a framework for the coordination of educational and informational programs to the commercial and noncommercial tropical fruit producers of Florida. The primary clientele include novice and experienced commercial producers, packers/shippers, processors, agricultural suppliers, agricultural organizations and urban residences. The program provides information and educational programs in the areas of crop production, pest management, soils, post-harvest handling, processing, hydrology, and marketing to commercial producers with the goal of improving their socioeconomic status. Program goals for urban residents include dissemination of information on selection, care, handling, and use of tropical fruit crops in the home landscape. Educational information is disseminated via seminars, workshops, short courses, field demonstrations, meetings, and hard copy and electronic publications.
Vegetable Crops
Vegetable crops management extension services are provided to commercial vegetable growers via county extension offices, as well as University of Florida Research and Education Centers. Services to commercial growers include diagnosing crop problems, providing information on determining cropping systems, and/or crops best suited to individual enterprises, fertilizers, irrigation, and crop protection techniques needed to produce profitable crops, marketing, and the use of business analysis programs.
