Improving Water Quality at the Watershed Level by Targeting High Return Stakeholders

Project Main Goal

Improve water quality in the Everglades National Park and Biscayne Bay Watershed by reducing agricultural nutrient leaching into groundwater through use of precision irrigation and precision fertilization Best Management Practices (BMPs).

This project includes research and extension activities:

  • Develop, support, and market economically viable BMPS.
  • Conduct stakeholder opinion surveys for BMP views.
  • Develop an economically based watershed management plan.
  • Develop a guide for others to use in implementing such BMP plans.

This project is funded by the USDA CSREES National Integrated Water Quality Program for 2005 to 2007.
