Comparison of Bucket Lysimeters & Soil Water Samplers as Methods for Evaluating Nutrient Leaching

Project Main Goal

Determine if bucket lysimeters and/or soil water samplers are an appropriate tool for assessing nutrient leaching.

The bucket lysimeters and soil water samplers are installed in an avocado grove for collecting water samples.  Water volumes and nutrient concentrations are being evaluated.  In addition, laboratory tests are being conducted with the soil water samplers.  Results are expected to be used to better evaluate nutrient leaching for BMP assessment.

This project is funded by the USDA CSREES National Integrated Water Quality Program.

This research is part of Mr. Nicholas Kiggundu's (PhD graduate student) dissertation.
