PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Assistant Professor (6/2000 – present), University of Florida, Tropical Research and Education Center.

Associate Investigator - Entomologist (2/1996 – 5/2000), Tennessee State University, Nursery Crop Research Station, McMinnville, TN. Conduct research to address the major insect problems of field production nursery crops. Develop and implement integrated pest management and quarantine treatment programs for insects of nursery crops using chemical, biological and cultural methods. Supervise one technician and one to four summer interns.

Field Research and Development (12/1993 – 1/1996), Rohm and Haas Company, Tifton, GA. Designed, conducted, and analyzed field research on the use and efficacy of experimental insecticides in field, vegetable, and tree crops, and turf and ornamentals. Initiated and monitored grant-in-aid projects with university cooperators. Cooperated/interacted with growers, university and government personnel, and private industry.

Postdoctoral Research Entomologist (8/1992 – 12/1993), USDA-ARS, Insect Biology Lab, Tifton, GA. Conducted laboratory and field experiments with Archytas marmoratus (Diptera: Tachinidae), a parasitoid of fall armyworm and corn earworm. Supervised one laboratory assistant.

Research Associate (1983-1986), Plant Genetics, Inc., Davis, CA. Designed, conducted, and analyzed laboratory and field research on the use of an encapsulation system to deliver entomopathogenic nematodes. Supervised 3 laboratory assistants.
