Research

The climate, unique soils and hydrology, and subtropical and tropical horticultural crops grown in South Florida provide extensive basic and applied research opportunities for the faculty and staff. Projects include work relevant to Florida and other tropical and subtropical regions around the world. T.R.E.C. also is involved in water quality issues and best-management practices for farms and nurseries in South Florida to help facilitate Everglades restoration and provide solutions to help protect the viability of South Florida's agricultural industry, the water supply and soil for generations to come.

The research faculty at T.R.E.C. are involved in interdisciplinary projects with each other and colleagues at other institutions throughout the United States and the rest of the world. The center provides for a wealth of research and learning opportunities for graduate students, post docs, and visiting scientists interested in subtropical and tropical environments and horticulture.
