Tropical Fruit Production and Handling Workshop (TFPHW)

Introduction: Tropical fruit production and handling research takes place in the two geographic extremes of the United States: South Florida/Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands and Hawaii/Guam.  Researchers in both regions are acquainted with each other, and each have made significant strides in furthering our understanding and management of fruit production and handling through T-STAR funded projects.  There has, heretofore, beenno single forum in which individuals from the two regions could come together to discuss their interrelated problems.  A T-STAR sponsored workshop was developed for the purpose of bringing together scientists, USAID-funded Non Government Organizations, and commodity representatives to discuss research accomplishments and projected research needs in order to establish priorities that will best serve the tropical fruit industries of both regions.
