Stakeholders at TREC's 8th annual One Night in the Tropics

The UF/IFAS Tropical Research & Education Center (UF/IFAS TREC) is an integral part of the Miami-Dade community. We develop and disseminate science-based information about tropical and subtropical crops and natural resource sciences through basic and applied research, extension, and teaching to sustain and enhance the quality of human life and the natural environment. We are the only state university research and education center in the continental U.S. focusing on the largest variety of tropical and subtropical crops. Our outstanding faculty, staff, and students conduct cutting edge research in areas including crop and plant breeding and biotechnology, sea level rise, soil and water management, environmental conservation, climate change, invasive plant pests and disease management, agriculture and ecosystems sustainability. By responding to and working with local producers, our science is tangibly impacting the output of agriculture and natural resources in south Florida.
Since our establishment in 1929, members of the community including local civic organizations have played an important role in assisting with funding our operations. In addition, as part of a land-grant university, we receive some support from federal, state, and county, resources. But, for UF/IFAS TREC to excel and continue to deliver the level of service that you, our stakeholders, have grown accustomed to, up-to-date facilities and instrumentation are a requirement. Your continued support, however big or small, is critical to us meeting this need and enabling us to more effectively carry out our mission of addressing the agricultural and natural resources needs of our community. We look forward to and remain extremely appreciative of your support. Once again, we thank you for having our back.

"I fully enjoyed my time at TREC and made some good memories with Trekians. I still remember those Friday nights at Schnebly Winery and Tropical Nights and I miss all the tropical fruits we had in TREC." - Babu Panthi
