The UF/IFAS Tropical Research & Education Center is the premier research, extension and teaching institution in Florida working on vast array of tropical and subtropical agricultural crops and natural resources. In recent years the Center has had much to celebrate. From commemorating our 90th anniversary to the historic Groundbreaking of the Pauline O. Lawrence Student Dormitory, the Center continues to garner recognition for its achievements.
The most noteworthy event is the Center's premier fundraising event: One Night in the Tropics. The event was initiated in 2014 by then-Center Director, Christine Waddill, with the TREC Excellence Endowment. Initially, the purpose of the fundraiser was to assist in funding TREC's new faculty positions, student scholarships, internships, and visiting research scholars research high priority projects.
The fundraising event continues to play a significant role in providing external financial support for the Center. The event is hosted on the first Saturday in November, which is recognized as Miami-Dade Farmer's Month in Miami-Dade County. We hope you'll join us for this year's event!
